10 day diets do they really help with weight loss for women?
Posted by Tansy Davis in Diet and Weightloss
It’s not uncommon for women to try a 10 day diet when initially looking to lose weight. In most of the diet books you’ll find commercially available you’ll see that they suggest a 10 day diet or a diet for a couple of weeks. Then they suggest you change you over to a longer term maintenance plan which you can stick to over the coming months.
This is where plans like the Dreambody System by Graham Foster and some other similar weight loss systems for longer term weight loss come to the forefront because they take the woman who’s attempting to lose significant weight to the next level. There are of course several other popular systems and support groups which supply advice and ongoing help for the longer term. which encourage sustained weightloss and prevent yo-yo dieting two of which are Weight Watchers and the Jenny Craig system.
I often refer to this sort of advanced program as the second stage or second phase of weight loss which goes in a totally different direction to the 10 day weight loss programs which we find advertised everywhere. This type of program helps you create a plan that helps you makes permananent changes to your life syle which results in longer term weight loss. As this is designed to last much longer, the amount of weight loss will be about 2 pounds a week or so.
But if these systems offer a long term solution to your weight problems you might be wondering why is it that 10 day dieting books and even some weight loss books which promise massive weight loss in a week still remain so popular. It’s all about instant results women want that golden bullet and to be able to find a effortless and instantaneous weight loss solution and that’s the reason why 10 day diets are just so fashionable.
Yes it’s a fact no one want reminding that a diet is going to go on and on and we will have to cut out all those foods we love for weeks on end so is it any wonder longer term diets are less popular. Most people are a happy with quick fix losing a few pounds so they fit in to a great new outfit or bikini for their vacation. I am convinced this is still the biggest reason that sales of books claiming effortless instant results are winners.
Well I have good and bad news for you when it comes to 10 day diets the good news is they do actually work and provided you stick to them you can shed about 5 pounds a week with some fairly simple changes to your eating habits.
Now not everything is black and white but these quick fix solutions are fine for a short period but in my experience few people are prepared to eat this sort of diet for long and their are even some diets which although popular are actually bad for you health over a long period.
If you only want to lose a few pounds a simple diet could be the answer or you might even feel that you want to go through a more comprehensive detox. ( i must say that I am a little adverse to detoxing unless well supervised as people can over do things and become quite ill if not careful)
If you are obese or just looking to get in much better shape and lose more weight, then you’ll be looking for a weight loss scheme that promotes longer term weight loss and will bring the need to make life-style changes. Then I am sorry to tell you the 10 day diet option or even for that matter a 2 week diet is not going to get you those sort of results you are looking for.
