Every year in the U.S. alone hundreds of thousands of women are persuaded to undergo tubal ligation surgery. The number varies depending upon the source but of those women who do this, many will decide they want to reverse the surgery. The premiere place to do so is the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center.
Maybe the best thing about the center is that tubal reversals are the only type of surgery done there. You won’t have to withstand any efforts by the staff or doctors to push you toward having an in vitro fertilization either which is a more expensive option and possibly less effective alternative. They do tubal reversals, period. Not vasectomy reversals and not IVF. As the tubal reversal surgery is all they do, you have an extremely well versed staff. They have the experience no one else does.
It is Dr. Berger who has brought Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center to the forefront for tubal ligation reversals. No one can match his background and training within this field. He has had the opportunity to study under and observe Dr. Winston himself, the man who was the pioneer in microsurgical tubal reversal procedures. Put that background together with the sheer number of tubal reversals Dr. Berger has done and you have someone who cannot be matched. Dr. Berger performs these operations, and only these operations, four times a day, five days a week.
Keeping the operating room and equipment operating at peak efficiency are the surgical technicians. They make sure everything works right and all is meticulous and sterile as it should be. These surgical technicians have been with the CHTRC for years. In fact, Dr. Berger’s first assistant has been with him for 18 years. That ought to give you a good feeling that she knows what she is doing and has seen it all. That is the caliber of the surgical staff.
Next we have Dr. Caryn Hertz who is the Director of Anesthesia at CHTRC. She, too, has been there for a long time. In her case, she has worked with Dr. Berger since 1995. This collaboration began after she left Duke University Medical Center to join Dr. Berger. I would guess the name of Duke alone should tell you the quality of the professional she is. Match that with her long term work with Dr. Berger, meaning she, too, knows this surgery inside and out and you have a winning team.
It’s the nurses at the center that you will make most contact with. They will be the ones you ask your questions of and who will see you through all the ropes that having a surgery like this entails. You will find that they add posts to the center blog answering some of the many questions that they get. You could not be in better hands than those of these caring and respectful ladies.
Maybe what I should mention next is the message board that allows all the ladies who are thinking about having a tubal reversal talk to all the ones who have had the surgery. It forms the basis of a type of support group though it is not officially one. Not only that but you can get your questions answered there by the staff as well. Sometimes even Dr. Berger will drop in and answer questions. You will find the latest pregnancy announcements, too.
What about those follow-ups? What am I talking about? I’m talking about the fact that the staff at CHTRC will check in with you at least six times after your surgery. These include a check at six months post surgery and a final check at one year post surgery. I have never heard of a doctor or clinic that provides that kind of follow up. Have you? This is just another indication of the great staff and doctors at the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center. You won’t find better care anywhere else.
