Just what is self esteem, and how is it managed? Generally speaking, self esteem is typically considered the way in which a person sees, or values himself, but accepting and respecting this image also comes into play. Self esteem is very important since it determines how we interact with other persons. People with low, or no, self esteem typically do not have any self confidence, nor any faith in themselves, in any manner.

It is essential that people understand exactly what self esteem is so that they can evaluate themselves and assess their knowledge of the subject. Just knowing about self esteem can assist someone to make a decision to work on their self esteem and to improve it considerably.

Self esteem is what keeps us going and helps us to cope with the many challenges we are faced with in life on a daily basis. In reality, the self confidence and belief we have in ourselves forms the way we deal with such obstacles and any necessary decision making. It is one of our greatest assets when navigating our way through life.

Not only are we far more decisive when we have adequate levels of self esteem, but our confidence gives us the ability to deal with others and take on new experiences along with whatever risks are involved. On the other hand, some people look at those who have high self esteem as arrogant or stuck up, even though it is simply your confidence that they are seeing.

Self esteem can be a factor in how we treat other people, and also in how we feel about ourselves. It can be the key factor as to whether we are a success or a failure in life. Self esteem plays a crucial part in our lives because it is our weapon against life’s difficulties and challenges.

What are the Factors of Self Esteem?

The support and assurance of persons dear to us, and their confidence in us, are very relevant in our nurturing of self esteem. When we were still young, the support and assurance of our family and those who are dear to us would build up our self confidence as we grow old. Adults with low self esteem may find that they can benefit by lending and ear or a shoulder to cry on to other family members, helping others with their troubles and encouraging them to share their emotions.

Children and teens may not know exactly what self esteem is, but they can still develop good self-esteem. It can also be difficult for adults who do understand low self esteem to cope with it. Encouragement and guidance can help people gain self esteem and become more confident in all aspects of their lives.
