1. ANSYS Reports First Quarter 2016 Financial Results
ANSYS, Inc. today announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2016. The Company
reported GAAP and non-GAAP revenue growth in constant currency of 6% and 5%, respectively,
and GAAP and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share of $0.63 and $0.77, respectively, for the
quarter. Recurring revenue, which is comprised of lease license and maintenance revenue,
totaled 78% of revenue for the first quarter .

3. FARO Reports First Quarter 2016 Financial Results
FARO Technologies, Inc. (FARO) today announced its financial results for the first quarter ended
March 31, 2016.
Sales for the quarter ended March 31, 2016 were $75.7 million, up 8.3% compared with $69.9
million in the first quarter last year. Excluding approximately $0.9 million of unfavorable foreign
exchange impacts, first quarter sales would have increased approximately 10% as compared with
the first quarter of 2015. The Company's sales growth was driven primarily by higher metrology
sales within the Americas and Asia-Pacific regions.
Gross margin for the quarter was 56.3% compared with 56.6% in the prior year period with
product and service margins remaining relatively consistent with the prior year period.
Operating income for the quarter was $4.3 million compared with $1.9 million in the prior year
period, reflecting increased sales volume partially offset by a modest increase in operating

ModuleWorks Releases 2016.04 CAD/CAM Components ModuleWorks has announced the latest release of its CAM components, ModuleWorks 2016.04, the first major update of 2016. Each ModuleWorks release contains many new and enhanced features across the product range. This latest version includes new features for 5-Axis, 3-Axis and Simulation. ModuleWorks is at the forefront of 5-Axis machining and simulation technology, providing the toolpath and simulation technology that powers many of the leading CAM systems available around the world today. Highlights of the new release are below:
5Axis Machining: The new tilting to common direction feature enables you to find a single tool axis orientation, either on the full toolpath or on an individual contour. It can be used for all tilting strategies. When tilting to a common direction, the tool axis is set to a normalized, single direction for all toolpath points.
Tilting to common direction: Laser aided manufacturing is a new toolpath creation feature that can be used for motion control of manufacturing systems that are mounted either on robots or inside standard milling machines.
The new adaptive roughing strategy ensures the cutting conditions remain almost constant. This offers significant improvements compared to conventional constant offset roughing strategies. The strategy avoids full-width cuts and guarantees a stable load on the tool which enables a faster material removal rate.
3Axis Machining: With the new lead-in/ lead-out extensions, the approach and retraction movements are smoother and more gradual.
Lead-in/ lead-out extensions: The new 3D trimmer for triangle and mesh parallel cuts significantly improves the quality of rest finishing toolpaths and the accuracy of the steep shallow boundary calculation.
7. 3D Systems Q1 Revenue Down 5% to $153M with $18M Loss ROCK HILL, SC, May 6, 2016 – 3D Systems Corp. announced its financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2016. For the first quarter of 2016, the company reported revenue of $152.6 million, a decrease of 5% from the prior year period. Excluding the contribution of consumer products and services that the

Q1-2016 Financial Results Summary :
Revenue for the first quarter of 2016 was $167.9 million .
GAAP operating loss for the first quarter was $21.1 million, compared to a loss of $220.9 million for the same period last year .
Non-GAAP operating income was $4.0 million, compared to a loss of $0.8 million for the same period last year .
GAAP net loss for the first quarter was $23.1 million, or ($0.44) per diluted share, compared to a loss of $216.3 million, or ($4.24) per diluted share, for the same period last year .
Non-GAAP net income for the first quarter was $0.6 million, or $0.01 per diluted share, compared to non-GAAP net income of $2.0 million, or $0.04 per diluted share, reported for the same period last year .
The Company generated $31.6 million in cash from operations during the first quarter, and currently holds approximately $280.2 million in cash and cash equivalents and short-term bank deposits .
The Company invested a net amount of $22.8 million in R&D projects (non-GAAP basis) during the first quarter, representing 13.6% of net sales .
Non-GAAP EBITDA for the first quarter amounted to $12.6 million .
The Company sold 5,125 3D printing and additive manufacturing systems during the quarter, and on a pro-forma combined basis, has sold a total of 151,149 systems worldwide as of March 31, 2016 .

The growth of complexity in products in recent years has been relentless and is accelerating.
Embedded electronics and software within products is a key driver of additional complexity. Using
embedded technology gives manufacturers a new way to add capabilities with enormous profit
potential, but it is forcing them to work differently. CIMdata has always viewed electronics and
software as an integral part of the product definition, but in most companies, mechanical,
electronics, and software are usually designed in a loosely coupled manner, if not in disconnected

Over the last few decades, manufactured products have become increasingly "smart," driving growth in the level of embedded electronics and software. The ubiquity of Internet access and the availability of cheap sensors and computing power make it easy to connect these smart products to drive new value for customers, enable innovative business models, and help manufacturing companies learn how their products are actually used and perform in the field. Based on CIMdata's consulting experience, many industrial companies are still struggling to adopt the technologies and processes necessary to make smart, connected products. Traditionally, PLM has been more focused on the mechanical elements of a product with software development running a parallel, disjointed process, shown in Figure 1. As products became smart, the embedded software was developed using other tools, sometimes licensed, but often open source. That software routinely became part of the bill of material (BOM) by attaching a .zip or .tar archive to the mechanically oriented BOM. Just as PLM evolved from authoring tools and data and process management, tools for software development evolved to support authoring, configuration management, change management, workflow, and other capabilities under the application lifecycle management (ALM) umbrella . 42. Siemens Expands Commitment to Joining Forces Initiative Siemens has announced its 2,000th veteran hiring since the company began participating in the Joining Forces initiative in 2011, and has committed to hire an additional 500 veterans over the next five years. Helmed by First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden, Joining Forces works to support and honor America's service members and their families. Matereality v10 Released for CAD, CAE, PLM ITHACA, NY, May 18, 2016 – Matereality's Version 10 release provides new software components for its enterprise installations, including bulk data loading capabilities and enhanced material parameter conversion support for LS-DYNA and Altair RADIOSS software. The release delivers tools to manage the CAD/PLM/CAE materials workflow, customize role-specific user experiences, and expands the authorship layer for creating and disseminating technical documentation. Data Import: Company data is often contained in many isolated tables and databases which must be consolidated into the enterprise-wide system. This tedious process, a hurdle for enterprise-wide adoption, is greatly eased with the Simple Loader, a new app which enables bulk loading of tables of single-point property data from Excel, greatly speeding up the capture of large quantities of data. It is now possible to rapidly populate a materials database with relevant information of the enterprise. In addition to importing property data, bulk loaders are available to import lists of materials and specifications to Matereality's data libraries, making them more complete and meaningful. Material Model Parameter Conversion: Incorporating a new software framework, Matereality v10 handles increased demand for material model parameter conversion. Oracle today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Opower, the
leading provider of customer engagement and energy efficiency cloud services to utilities, for
$10.30 per share in cash. The transaction is valued at approximately $532 million, net of
Opower's solutions enable over 100 global utilities, such as PG&E, Exelon and National Grid, to
deliver a modern digital customer experience. Opower's big data platform stores and analyzes
over 600 billion meter reads from 60 million utility end customers, enabling utilities to proactively
meet regulatory requirements, decrease the cost to serve, and improve customer satisfaction.
